1. Your Message Board’s Location and Visibility

When designing your indoor or outdoor electronic message boards, we’ll consider:

• Sign Size – Local zoning ordinances may impact the size and square footage of an outdoor sign.
• Pixel Pitch – How close will people be when viewing your LED display? For example, we’ll use smaller pitches for close-up viewing of some indoor message display boards.
• Viewing Angle – Will your viewers be facing the sign directly? Be above it? Or below it? Should we tilt the sign slightly for improved visibility and legibility?
• Ambient Light – For outdoor electronic message boards, how will the messages appear in bright, direct sunlight? Anti-glare and high brightness, measured in “nits,” are key considerations. For indoor display boards, you can choose to adjust your signs manually or use automatic sensors.
• Traffic Patterns – We’ll want to place the sign indoors where the most people will see it. Likewise, we’ll place outdoor electronic message boards in locations visible to the highest volume of vehicle or pedestrian traffic.

2. Humidity, Wind, Precipitation, and Temperature Fluctuations

If you’re installing your digital message board outside, we’ll take specific considerations into account. We’ll ensure your outdoor message board withstands extreme weather, including temperature fluctuations, wind loads, snow, rain, and environmental irritants like dust and pollen.

3. Appropriate Mounting for Your LED Display Board

Depending on the overall weight of your LED display and environmental factors, such as wind, we’ll recommend mounting your message boards on specific types of structures:

• Interior or exterior walls
• Monument signs
• Pylons or poles
• Ceilings, suspended by heavy cables and hooks
• Trusses (for temporary installations)

4. Electrical Requirements, Codes, and Connectivity

How will your messages be uploaded? We’ll ensure access to an Ethernet cable, Wi-Fi, cloud-based management, or a USB flash drive.

5. Compliance With Zoning, Codes, and Permits

We’re familiar with local zoning and building codes. We’ll obtain the necessary permits and ensure compliance with all applicable codes.
